Our history

Lichtblock was founded in 2020. How it came about and the idea behind it is told here by chiropractor and Lichtblock-founder Daniel Sentker himself:

2012, Bournemouth, England 🎓

When I was a student, I lived in an outdated student house with water damage and associated mold. My everyday life looked something like this: The first thing I looked at in the morning was my cell phone, followed by coffee without breakfast, a long day at work, sports, junk food, parties and Netflix. One last look at Instagram before going to bed. I enjoyed this lifestyle for a long time until one day I developed tangible symptoms.

Instead of building up my performance in sport, my strength was decreasing day by day. This was compounded by what the English call "brain fog". I simply couldn't remember anything in my studies. I felt helpless and started a medical marathon that ended with antihypertensives and antidepressants. I was only 22 years old at the time.

As the medication didn't help me either, I started to do my own research. I pored over specialist books, changed my eating habits, attended online courses, underwent lab tests and treatments, took various dietary supplements and traveled to seminars and therapies.

The decisive turning point

Inspired by experts such as the light biologist Alexander Wunsch and the neurosurgeon Jack Kruse, I went on a trip to Mexico in 2019 to take part in a retreat. Here I lived with other participants for four weeks in the rhythm of nature - largely without electric light, but with plenty of sunlight. Within a very short time, I felt great. I realized that living against nature was the cause of many of my problems.

Today, I try to spend as much time outside as possible and especially to experience the morning and evening hours of sunshine. At the same time, however, I have to realize again and again that a lifestyle like the one I lived in Mexico is difficult to implement in the digital world. If you don't want to become a dropout, you have to become inventive in order to live according to the rules of nature in modern everyday life.

Bringing Mexico home 🌞

Light plays a crucial role - or rather, the right light at the right time. It's no secret that the blue light from screens messes up our internal clock. It tricks our body into thinking it's broad daylight at any time of day or night. In addition, we rarely see the sunrise and sunset, whose wavelengths adjust our body to the time of day and night. The result is a biorhythm that is out of sync. In addition to symptoms such as sleep disorders and constant exhaustion, this also causes low moods and a range of other health problems.

After returning from Mexico, I was full of energy and looked for ways to integrate the findings of my trip into my everyday life. I wanted more people to recognize the incredible potential of light and use it for themselves. I was driven by the thought of how many people I could help. Shortly afterwards Lichtblock was launched to create products that enable the best compromise between our everyday lives and nature. In addition, our guiding principle is to spread the message that light is a crucial factor for health and vitality.
