FAQ - Blueblocker
Why should I wear Blueblocker glasses?
The crucial and biggest problem with blue light after sunset is the effect it has on our nervous system. After dark, the light tricks your brain into thinking it's the wrong time of day. This interrupts your sleep cycle and can have a negative effect on your health, especially over longer periods of time. Yellow or orange lenses that block 100% blue light can help you protect your sleep cycle and improve your sleep quality.

Is the night mode on smartphones and laptops enough to protect me from blue light?
Although the night mode on smartphones and laptops reduces the amount of blue light on the screens, it does not block 100% of the blue light. In addition, these devices are usually not the only light sources that emit blue light - room lighting, televisions and other screens also contribute to blue light exposure. Blueblocker glasses, which filter out 100% of blue light, offer more comprehensive protection as they not only cover the screen, but all light sources in your environment. This way you play it safe, especially in the evening when you need to support your sleep-wake rhythm and protect your eyes.
Which lenses should I choose?
Sleep: Ideal if you want to improve your sleep quality. These lenses are perfect for the evening hours to completely block out blue light, helping you to fall asleep faster and sleep through the night.
Dark: The best choice for maximum light reduction. Recommended for people who do late night screen work or are sensitive to blue light. They ensure deeper relaxation before going to bed.
Work+Play: Developed for use in the workplace or when gaming. These glasses reduce exposure to blue light during the day without significantly altering color perception. They are ideal for minimizing eye strain while maintaining a clear image.
Choose based on your main concern: Better sleep, intense blue light protection or balanced everyday protection.
Can blue blocker glasses relieve headaches or migraines?
Many users report that wearing blueblocker glasses can reduce headaches and migraines when working at a screen. By filtering out blue light, eye strain is minimized, which can be particularly helpful for sensitive people.
When and how often should I wear Blueblocker?
If possible, you should wear Blueblocker glasses every day after sunset, especially if you are still around artificial light. For a more consistent routine, we recommend wearing your glasses around 3-4 hours before bedtime to support your sleep-wake cycle.
Our Work+Play glasses are ideal for use during the day when working at a screen or indoors with lots of artificial light. They offer an 85% blue light filter that reduces eye strain without affecting color perception too much. Note, however, that these glasses are not intended for outdoor use. They should only be worn while working at a computer screen or in poorly lit indoor environments to provide optimum protection and comfort.
Should I wear Blueblocker glasses during the day?
It is not advisable to wear blueblockers during the day, especially if you do not need glasses. It is important to get the full spectrum of light into your eyes and, ideally, onto your skin during the day. If you work at a computer during the day, it is advisable to wear our Work+Play models or to install a filter such as f.lux® or Iris to protect your eyes.

What is the difference to transparent blue light filter glasses (computer glasses) or the coating from the optician?
There are blue light filters as coatings from opticians and there is a wide range of clear lenses that are marketed as blue blockers.
Clear lenses can only filter out a small amount of blue light. So if you see advertising claims that speak of a higher filter performance than 5-30% for such lenses, you should be skeptical. These glasses are usually found under the heading "computer glasses". They are supposed to protect against dry and strained eyes.
